Characterization Laboratory<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.gov\/nano\/research\/ncl\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCL<\/a>) was founded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in 2004, <strong>in collaboration with the FDA and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nist.gov\/nanomaterials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NIST<\/a><\/strong>as part of a public-private partnership aimed at advancing the science required for the future.<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">e<strong> to accelerate the development of promising nanotechnology-based therapies and diagnostics<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>NCL, part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/frederick.cancer.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research<\/a> (FNLCR), tested <strong>more than 500 unique nanomaterials<\/strong> submitted by over 125 researchers from all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>NCL has just published its <strong>annual report 2023<\/strong>which highlights advances in research and trends in applications, including :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The NCL test cascade (submission and application trends)<\/li>\n<li>Protocols and new technologies<\/li>\n<li>Nanotechnology formulation<\/li>\n<li>Publication of validated and recognized harmonized characterization methods<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NCL launches a <strong>call for applications<\/strong> for several cutting-edge technologies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lipid nanoparticles (LNP)<\/li>\n<li>Nucleic acid-based therapeutic nanotechnologies<\/li>\n<li>Imaging agents<\/li>\n<li>Immunotherapies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>International requests for NCL services represent 19% of the total number of requests received, and the dossiers structure interne ou une structure de surface \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle nanom\u00e9trique.<br\/><br\/>Selon la recommandation de d\u00e9finition europ\u00e9enne C(2022) 3689:<br\/>On entend par \u00abnanomat\u00e9riau\u00bb un mat\u00e9riau naturel, form\u00e9 accidentellement ou manufactur\u00e9, constitu\u00e9 de particules solides qui sont pr\u00e9sentes soit individuellement soit en tant que particules constitutives identifiables dans des agr\u00e9gats ou des agglom\u00e9rats, 50 % au moins de ces particules, dans la r\u00e9partition num\u00e9rique par taille, r\u00e9pondant au moins \u00e0 l\u2019une des conditions suivantes:<br\/>(a) une ou plusieurs dimensions externes de la particule se situent dans la fourchette de 1 nm \u00e0 100 nm;<br\/>(b) la particule pr\u00e9sente une forme allong\u00e9e, telle que celle d\u2019un b\u00e2tonnet, d\u2019une fibre ou d\u2019un tube, deux dimensions externes \u00e9tant inf\u00e9rieures \u00e0 1 nm et l\u2019autre dimension sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 100 nm;<br\/>(c) la particule pr\u00e9sente une forme de plaque, une dimension externe \u00e9tant inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 1 nm et les autres dimensions sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 100 nm.<br\/>Pour d\u00e9terminer la r\u00e9partition num\u00e9rique par taille des particules, il n\u2019est pas n\u00e9cessaire de prendre en consid\u00e9ration les particules ayant au moins deux dimensions externes orthogonales sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 100 \u03bcm.<br\/>Un mat\u00e9riau pr\u00e9sentant une surface sp\u00e9cifique en volume inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 6 m2\/cm3 n\u2019est toutefois
