The SMURFnano project, coordinated by BAM (Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung), aims to develop standardized methods for measuring and analyzing the surface functionalities of nanoparticles. The project meets a growing need on the part of industry and regulatory authorities for reliable, reproducible analytical protocols for quantifying the functional groups present on the surface of nanoparticles.
SMURFnano is therefore committed to creating and validating measurement procedures, as well as reference and test materials, to guarantee the quality and traceability of analyses. These methods are essential for both research and quality control in the industrial production of nanoparticles. The project is part of the European Horizon Europe program, and involves international collaboration to ensure standardization and dissemination of the new standards, while offering training and resources via the Nano@BAM competence center.
The SMURFnano project (23NRM02) is funded by the European Metrology Partnership (EPM) and co-financed by the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation program and the participating countries.
NanoMesureFrance supports this project by participating in these stakeholder workshops and co-organizing an event.
