Calibration capabilities

The BIPM (Bureau International des Poids et Mesures), the bridgehead of international metrology, is responsible for developing and maintaining the international base of CMCs (Capacités d'Etalonnage et de Mesure).

WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

This database brings together the measurement and calibration capabilities of NMIs worldwide. It represents the existing state of the art, with each proposed method having been validated by inter-laboratory comparisons involving several NMIs, and the entries in the database verified and approved within the framework of the existing mutual recognition agreement between NMIs (CIPM MRA). This means that any laboratory listed in the database can be called upon for its specific expertise by all CIPM MRA signatory countries.

WHAT'S IN IT?

Each entry is associated with information on the national metrology institute which registered the CMC, the object considered for measurement and, where applicable, the matrix considered, the targeted quantity (the measurand), the range of values accessible by the method and the associated uncertainties. The latter represent the smallest measurement uncertainties achievable today.
